A seller’s market is one with more buyers than sellers, where sellers can affect prices to a significant degree.
After many small retailers were forced to close shop, MegaMall managers realized that the city had become a <strong>seller’s market</strong> and quietly started raising prices.
Such market situation is also referred to as a “hard market”. In such case, sellers have greater clout due to demand’s exceeding supply. An example can be seen in real estate where locations with few houses for sale enable sellers to pick and choose between many offers, thus driving up prices. The opposite situation is termed a <em>buyer’s market</em>.

Takováto situace na trhu se také nazývá „tvrdý trh“. V takovém případě mají prodávající větší vliv, jelikož poptávka převyšuje nabídku. Příklad můžeme vidět v nemovitostech – prodejci si v oblastech, kde je málo domů na prodej, mohou vybírat z různých nabídek, což zvyšuje ceny. Opačnou situací je trh kupujícího.
