Blind trust /

Slepý trust

Business Term of the Day

Definition

A blind trust is a type of trust in which the beneficiary plays no role in managing the assets of the trust and has no direct knowledge of which assets the trust holds.

Example sentence

Although the prime minister claimed she gave control of her company to a blind trust, several journalists have demonstrated that she still exerts influence over the company.

Comment

Blind trusts are typically established by politicians, journalists, and other public figures to avoid conflicts of interest. Such a trust is fully managed by the trustee, with the beneficiary having no control over the trust or the trustee. In the UK, blind trusts are not allowed to make donations to political parties, as their ownership is not disclosed.

Definice

Slepý trust je typ svěřenského fondu, ve kterém obmyšlený nehraje žádnou roli ve správě aktiv svěřenského fondu a nemá přímé vědomosti o tom, jaká aktiva trust drží.

Příklad použití ve větě

Ačkoli premiérka tvrdila, že kontrolu nad svou společností dala slepému trustu, několik novinářů prokázalo, že tuto společnost stále ovlivňuje.

Poznámka

Slepé trusty typicky zakládají politici, novináři, a ostatní veřejné osoby, aby se vyhnuly střetu zájmů. Takový trust plně spravuje svěřenský správce, a obmyšlený nemá žádnou kontrolu nad tímto svěřenským fondem ani nad správcem. Ve Spojeném království nemohou slepé trusty poskytovat dary politickým stranám, jelikož jejich vlastnictví není zveřejněno.
