An unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, is a remotely guided aircraft flying with no humans on board.
The global unmanned aerial vehicle industry (i.e., the commercial usage of drones for private, corporate, scientific, and other purposes) is projected to reach sales of nearly $41 billion in 2027.
Originally developed for armies to perform tasks either too tedious or too dangerous for humans and equipped with devices such as target designators or offensive ordnance, these aircraft are now used for numerous commercial purposes. These include product delivery, monitoring and surveillance, real estate marketing, and much more. Drones can also be equipped with various sensors to monitor hydration of soils or presence of insect pests in fields, for example, or with infrared sensors to search for people lost in inaccessible areas. Very popular, too, is aerial photography or video recording using drones.
Bezpilotní letadlo neboli dron je dálkově řízené letadlo, které létá bez přítomnosti lidí na palubě.
Předpokládá se, že celosvětový průmysl bezpilotních letadel, tj. komerční využití dronů pro soukromé i firemní, vědecké a jiné účely, dosáhne v roce 2027 tržeb ve výši téměř 41 miliard USD.
Původně byla tato letadla vyvinuta pro armádu, aby plnila úkoly, které jsou pro člověka buďto příliš triviální nebo příliš nebezpečné, a byla vybavena například zaměřovači cílů nebo útočnou municí. Nyní se však používají k řadě komerčních účelů. Patří mezi ně doručování zásilek, monitorování a sledování, marketing nemovitostí a mnoho dalšího. Drony mohou být také vybaveny různými senzory např. pro sledování hydratace půdy nebo přítomnosti škůdců na polích nebo infračervenými senzory k vyhledávání osob ztracených v nepřístupných oblastech. Velmi populární je také pořizování leteckých fotografií nebo videa pomocí dronů.
