A tax exemption is a reduction of or complete relief from a particular tax under certain conditions.
Most new investors will qualify for pioneer status, entitling them to a five- to ten-year tax exemption on company profits, depending on the project.
Tax exemptions are frequently used by governments to provide an incentive to spend or invest in areas it wants to benefit or expand (such as families with children, charities, education, or a specific industry or segment). For example, many governments provide tax exemptions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as opposed to large corporations in order to level the playing fields and foster competition. Tax exemptions may also be offered for specific situations, such as the construction of a new factory that may provide a large number of new jobs in an area. Some free-market advocates object that tax exemptions skew natural competition and therefore create market inefficiencies.

Většina nových investorů bude splňovat podmínky statutu nového investora, což je opravňuje k pěti až desetileté daňové úlevě ze zisků společnosti, v závislosti na projektu.

Někteří zastánci volného trhu namítají, že daňové výjimky přirozenou hospodářskou soutěž pokřivují a tedy vytvářejí neefektivity na trhu.
