Professional skepticism is a term from the field of audit meaning that the auditor should think critically about any presented information to be able to discover possible fraud or error.
I have always thought that skepticism is rather a personality trait, but recently I read a study presenting evidence that professional skepticism can be learned.
Being skeptical is probably one of the key characteristics of a good auditor. Generally, it means not believing anything or anybody until clear evidence is presented. An auditor should never rely on previous good experience with the leadership of a company, believing that if the managers proved their honesty and integrity last year then they surely will act the same also this time.
Obecně to znamená nevěřit nikomu a ničemu, dokud nejsou prezentovány přesvědčivé důkazy.
