To be proactive means that a person is able to act in such ways as to initiate change or action rather than just react to it.
Our company values proactive approaches in its employees, showing they are not afraid to come up with creative solutions.
The term proactive is a popular buzzword that we may encounter in many companies with reference to their employees. A proactive person is able to anticipate and identify potential problems before they occur, suggest solutions, then take action. To be proactive is to take self-initiated, free and conscious action. The opposite of proactivity is reactivity or adaptability, which means reacting to situations once they have already occurred.
