The owner of record is the holder or registered owner of a property as documented in public or company records.
The owners of record were requested at the meeting of the building association to vote on whether or not to begin construction of an adjacent parking lot.
The owner of record, sometimes called the record owner or (in the case of equity) shareholder of record, possesses the rights, benefits, and responsibilities of ownership for a property or holding. This means that the shareholder of record will receive dividends if they are issued and may also cast votes on corporate matters. Similar responsibilities apply to owners of record of properties. In regard to shareholders, the owner and the owner of record are not the same thing. An investor becomes the owner the instant the purchase order is processed but he or she does not become the owner of record until the transaction is settled, which may take time.

Na schůzi společenství vlastníků byli zapsaní vlastníci požádáni, aby hlasovali, jestli zahájit výstavbu vedlejšího parkoviště nebo ne.

To znamená, že zapsaný akcionář obdrží dividendy, pokud jsou vydány, a může také hlasovat v otázkách společnosti. Obdobné povinnosti se vztahují také na zapsané vlastníky majetku. Pro akcionáře existuje odlišnosti mezi vlastníkem a zapsaným vlastníkem. Investor se stane vlastníkem jakmile je zpracován nákupní příkaz, ale nestane se zapsaným vlastníkem, dokud není transakce vypořádána, což může nějakou dobu trvat.
