“Done deal” is an idiomatic expression denoting that an agreement or decision has been finalized.
Although no formal agreement had yet been signed, the merger between Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises was widely considered a done deal after the positive meeting between the two companies’ CEOs.
As suggested in the example sentence above, the expression “done deal” is often used in the context when an agreement has been made only in principle but for all intents and purposes may be regarded as final. In that sense, the particular circumstances of the deal are such that it is highly unlikely that either party would change its mind. Similar concepts include handshake deals, oral contracts, and gentlemen’s agreements.
