Credit card /

Kreditní karta

Business Term of the Day

Definition

A credit card is a machine-readable plastic payment card that may be used to purchase goods or services on credit.

Example sentence

Credit cards account for an ever-increasing percentage of financial transactions.

Comment

In contrast to charge cards, the balances for which must be paid off on a monthly basis, credit cards allow the clients a continuing balance of debt. It also differs from a debit card, which enables a client to access his or her bank account at financial institutions and make payments, but not to do so on a credit basis. All these plastic cards have the same shape and size as defined by an ISO standard.

Definice

Všechny tyto plastové karty mají stejný tvar a velikost definovanou standardem ISO.<
