Cable is a slang term for the GBP/USD exchange rate.

Comment

This term originates from the first transatlantic telegraph cable which started successfully transmitting prices of the British pound and the U.S. dollar in 1866. Cables are still a primary method for communication between continents, with telegraph being replaced first by telephone and most recently by fiber-optic cables. In the U.S., the term also refers to the pound sterling itself.

Poznámka

Tento termín pochází z prvního transatlantického telegrafního kabelu, který začal úspěšně přenášet ceny britské libry a amerického dolaru roku 1866. Kabely jsou stále primárním způsobem komunikace mezi kontinenty. Telegraf byl nejprve nahrazen telefonem a nejnověji optickými kabely. Ve Spojených státech tento termín také označuje samotnou britskou libru.
