The term refers to markets with more sellers than buyers, where buyers can affect prices to a significant degree.
Decreased demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) has created a buyer’s market where producers have lost much of their previous bargaining power.
Also referred to as a buyers’ or soft market. Buyers have clout within these markets due to supply exceeding demand. An example can be seen in real estate where locations with many houses for sale enable buyers to pick and choose between many options, thus driving down the prices. The opposite term is a seller’s market.
