A company’s bottom line is its profit or loss for the fiscal year.

Comment

The term comes from the position of the net result at the bottom of the income statement. When social and environmental impacts are added to the financial, moreover, then this is termed the triple bottom line or integrated bottom line. Figuratively, “bottom line” may also refer to the main conclusion of any statement or situation.

Poznámka

Anglický termín pochází z pozice čistého výsledku na konci výkazu zisku nebo ztráty. Když jsou k finančním výsledkům přidány navíc i společenské a environmentální dopady, pak se to nazývá trojitá výsledovka nebo integrovaná výsledovka. V přeneseném významu může výraz „bottom line“ také označovat hlavní závěr nějakého tvrzení nebo situace.
