A bill of lading is a legal document describing the type, quantity and destination of goods being transported.
Recent attempts to digitize bills of lading would significantly speed up logistics processes and safeguard against misuse.
The term derives from the verb lade, which means “to load” in the sense of cargo onto a means of transport. Historically, the term was used in relation to the transport of goods by sea. Today, however, a bill of lading may be used for any shipment of goods regardless of the mode of transport, while goods shipped across international waters usually are accompanied by an ocean bill of lading. Such transactions commonly involve three key parties: the carrier, the shipper, and the recipient. The bill of lading thus serves as a receipt for the handover of goods at each stage of the transaction and must accompany the shipment along its entire journey.
Náložní list nebo-li konosament je právní dokument, který popisuje typ, množství a destinaci přepravovaného zboží.
Nedávné pokusy o digitalizaci konosamentů by významně urychlily logistické procesy a zajistily ochranu proti zneužití.
