Bill of goods /

Bill of goods

Business Term of the Day

Definition

Literally meaning a list of merchandise to be delivered, this term is mostly frequently used in North America to mean a misrepresentation or fraud.

Example sentence

The college is really trying to sell students a bill of goods when it promotes the idea that these classes can prepare students for the real world of business.

Comment

To distinguish the meaning of fraud from the list of merchandise to be delivered, the fraud is sometimes referred to as a fake or false bill of goods.

Definice
