A basis point is 1 hundredth of a percentage point.

Comment

Also abbreviated as BP, bp or bip, a basis point is a commonly used unit for measuring and comparing interest rates. Indeed, the term derives from basis which refers to the spread between two interest rates. A similar unit, the pip, is used in measuring forex rates and, for most currencies, represents 1 ten-thousandth.

Poznámka

Také se zkracuje jako BP, bp, nebo bip. Bazický bod je často používaná jednotka pro měření úrokových sazeb. Tento termín je ve skutečnosti odvozen z báze, která označuje spread mezi dvěma úrokovými sazbami. Podobná jednotka, pip, se využívá při měření devizových kurzů a pro většinus měn označuje jednu desetitisícinu.
