Applied information economics (AIE) is a blend of techniques from a range of social science and mathematical fields that aims to clarify, measure, and provide optimal recommendations within enterprise decision and valuation processes.

Applied information economics is a method of decision analysis developed by Douglas Hubbard that works not only with data that are known, but also – and even especially – with those that are unknown (uncertainty, risk), using tools of economics, financial theory, and statistics. This method aims to teach people to assess probabilities of unknown events and therefore make better decisions. AIE was employed initially in IT industry projects and subsequently applied to other fields such as engineering, business, and even the military. It is closely associated with the terms value of information, decision theory, information theory, and risk analysis.

Aplikovaná informační ekonomie (AIE) je spojení postupů z různých společenskovědních a matematických oborů, jejímž cílem je objasnit, vyhodnotit a stanovit optimální doporučení v rámci rozhodovacích a hodnoticích procesů v podniku.

Výhoda aplikované informační ekonomie spočívá v tom, že je schopna provést opravdovou analýzu rizika a návratnosti pomocí ověřených metod, jejichž statistická platnost je známa.

Poznámka

Aplikovaná informační ekonomie je metoda analýzy rozhodování vyvinutá Douglasem Hubbardem, jenž pracuje nejen se známými, ale také (a hlavně) s neznámými daty (nejistotu, riziko) za pomoci nástrojů ekonomiky, finanční teorie a statistiky. Metoda má za cíl naučit lidi posuzovat pravděpodobnosti neznámých událostí, a tak činit lepší rozhodnutí. AIE byla původně mířená na projekty z oblasti IT, ale postupně se aplikovala i na jiné obory jako strojírenství, podnikání, a dokonce v armádě. Pojem je úzce spojený s hodnotou informace, teorií rozhodování, informační teorií a analýzou rizik.
