Also known as competition law in the UK, the primary targets of antitrust laws are cartels and such other forms of collusion as price fixing, bid rigging, market allocation and predatory pricing. In certain jurisdictions, these laws are also intended as regulations against the creation of monopolies and oligopolies and/or against the abuse of such dominant positions, as in the case of critical natural monopolies (e.g., public utilities).
