Across the board /

Ve všech oblastech

Business Term of the Day

Definition

In finance and economics, the term across the board describes market movements that affect most participants in a similar way.

Example sentence

The past weeks have seen a jump in stock prices across the board.

Comment

While there are several theories regarding the etymology of this saying, one possibility is that it refers to the large price display board at the New York Stock Exchange. When the majority of stock prices were moving in the same direction, this could be clearly seen “across the board.”

Definice
