The phrase silver bullet describes a perfect solution to a given problem.
There is no silver bullet which will magically increase our sales. Instead, we need to do market research to see what customers really need and build on that.
The notion probably originates from folklore where various beings invulnerable to normal bullets (such as werewolves) could be harmed using silver. The related term magic bullet is used in medicine for highly effective drugs with no side effects.
